COUNTRY RADIO BROADCASTERS, INC. (CRB) has announced its 2023 RUSTY WALKER and LISA McKAY WOMEN IN RADIO scholars. This year’s RUSTY WALKER SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to KIZN (KISSIN’ 92.3)/BOISE, ID Marketing Dir. TORI D; KFGE (FROGGY 98)/LINCOLN, NE afternoon host BROOKE SUMMERS; and KWEN (K95.5)/TULSA, OK morning show co-host CAITLIN FISHER. Set to receive the LISA McKAY WOMEN IN RADIO SCHOLARSHIP are KCLR (Clear 99)/COLUMBIA, MO morning co-host LIZ DELGROSSO and KIKV (KIK FM 100.7)/ALEXANDRIA, MN APD/Producer and morning co-host CHELSEA LEE.
The RUSTY WALKER SCHOLARSHIP program honors the former CRS board member it is named for, a COUNTRY RADIO HALL OF FAME inductee, influential programmer and consultant, and mentor in the music industry. After his death in 2012, the scholarship was developed to continue his legacy of supporting bright, young minds in the business.
The LISA McKAY WOMEN IN RADIO SCHOLARSHIP program honors the late McKAY, who successfully programmed WQDR/RALEIGH for 16 years and was inducted into the COUNTRY RADIO HALL OF FAME in 2018. McKAY was integral in helping the CRB launch the now well-established annual RUSTY WALKER SCHOLARSHIP program. The newer scholarship in her name serves to advance younger females pursuing leadership roles in radio programming.
Each recipient will receive complimentary registration, hotel, and airfare for CRS 2023 in NASHVILLE. Scholars will also be recognized during the event. CRS takes place MONDAY, MARCH 13th through WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15th at the OMNI NASHVILLE HOTEL.
