Former NEW MEXICO radio News Dir. and host MARY WOODS (a/k/a MARY ROSE) died of cancer in ALBURQUERQUE on SUNDAY (1/23) at 67.
WOODS served as News Director at THREE EAGLES COMMUNICATIONS Hot AC KVRH (92.3 THE PEAK) and Country KBVC (104.1 EAGLE COUNTRY)/SALIDA-BUENA VISTA, CO, through 2005 before a short stint as local host of "MORNING EDITION" at UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO Variety KUNM/ALBUQUERQUE in 2005-06; she hosted "THE ARCHBISHOP'S HOUR" on stations across NEW MEXICO for the ARCHDIOCESE OF SANTA FE in 2006-2020. A prolific audiobook narrator, she most recently served as a Literacy Specialist at a charter school.
A wake is scheduled for IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH in ALBUQUERQUE on FEBRUARY 1st at 6:30p (MT) with a funeral mass at the same location on FEBRUARY 2nd at 10a. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to CATHOLIC CHARITIES, the HUMANE SOCIETY OF ALBUQUERQUE, or the charity of the donor's choice.
