An attorney for jailed singer R. KELLY has filed papers seeking a new trial for KELLY because a witness in his trial had lied about seeking monetary retribution in the case. In papers filed on SATURDAY, KELLY's attorney says the witness hired consultants to help her seek $13 million in retribution. The motion claims KELLY's rights were violated by the witness’s lack of transparency.
In SEPTEMBER 2022, KELLY was convicted of charges including child pornography related to years of sexual abuse of the witness and other girls.
