The TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF TOURIST DEVELOPMENT is once again hosting TENNESSEE SONGWRITERS WEEK, with more than a thousand songwriters competing to play at city's THE BLUEBIRD CAFE. The competition, now in its fifth year, is currently underway with more than 50 qualifying rounds at music venues, restaurants, museums, coffee shops and more in seven musically distinct regions across the state, all leading up to TENNESSEE SONGWRITERS WEEK, taking place FEBRUARY 19th – 25th. A state law has designated TENNESSEE SONGWRITERS WEEK as the last full week of FEBRUARY each year.
Songwriters who advance from these qualifying rounds will compete at showcase events during TENNESSEE SONGWRITERS WEEK in FRANKLIN, MEMPHIS, CHATTANOOGA, KNOXVILLE, GATLINBURG, JOHNSON CITY and GALLATIN for the chance to play at THE BLUEBIRD CAFE and receive a variety of prizes. Seven finalists, one from each showcase, will win the opportunity to perform at THE BLUEBIRD during a private event in MARCH with music industry professionals.
Finalists will also win a branded, commemorative TAYLOR guitar, a two-night hotel stay in NASHVILLE, $100 gift card for travel and a one-year membership to NASHVILLE SONGWRITERS ASSOCIATION INTERNATIONAL (NSAI). Click here for more information.
