CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY LONG BEACH has inked the previously announced deal with an affiliated company of SAUL LEVINE's MOUNT WILSON FM BROADCASTERS to operate and program noncommercial Jazz KKJZ/LONG BEACH-LOS ANGELES. The deal with LEVINE's GLOBAL JAZZ INC., which will run 10 years, replaces the previous operating deal with PACIFIC PUBLIC RADIO, which had run the station since 1987. The format will remain Jazz, but, other than a scholarship program and plans to increase student participation at the professionally managed station, no details of the new arrangement were announced.
MOUNT WILSON owns crosstown commercial Country KKGO (GO COUNTRY 105.1) and Adult Standards KMZT-A (K-MOZART) as well as KKGO simulcast XESUR-A/TIJUANA-SAN DIEGO. Its deal to operate KKJZ was originally announced in OCTOBER 2006.
