THE CINCINNATI ENQUIRER reports JIM LABARBARA, a CINCINNATI radio fixture for 38 years, will host his last show 2-7p today on CUMULUS Oldies WGRR/CINCINNATI. LABARBARA, 65, was told WEDNESDAY his contract was not renewed. As ALL ACCESS reported on WEDNESDAY (NET NEWS 3/28), he will be replaced by KEITH MITCHELL, WGRR's PD since CUMULUS acquired the station in NOVEMBER.
"I'm just shellshocked now, trying to figure out what I'm going to do next," says LABARBARA. "They said it had nothing to do with me, or my ratings, or my age. They said corporate wanted to make a change."
LABARBARA has spent 14 years on WGRR. He also worked in the market on WLW-A (1969-83) as well as WCKY-A and WSAI-A. He was inducted into the OHIO RADIO/TELEVISION BROADCASTERS HALL OF FAME in 2000.
