The TORONTO area will get another AM station with the CRTC's grant of NEETI P. RAY's application for a new 1,000-watt fulltime station at 1650 AM in MISSISSAUGA, ON. The new facility, which beat out a competing application for the same frequency by S.S. TV in BRAMPTON, ON, will air an Ethnic format, primarily in Hindustani and Urdu.
The CRTC also approved JIM PATTISON BROADCAST GROUP's application to move its CKOV-A/KELOWNA from 630 AM to 103.1 FM. The station will retain its hybrid talk and music format, with the music described as "Soft Vocals."
