ROGER AMES has been named head of EMI MUSIC NORTH AMERICA. AMES reports to EMI GROUP CEO ERIC NICOLI and replaces DAVID MUNNS, who exited at the beginning of the year. CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP's JASON FLOM, BLUE NOTE LABEL GROUP's BRUCE LUNDVALL, EMM's RON WERRE, CAPITOL NASHVILLE's MIKE DUNGAN and CAROLINE's BILL HEIN will all report to AMES.
AMES was appointed Chairman/CEO of WARNER MUSIC GROUP in AUGUST 1999, four months after he was appointed President of WARNER MUSIC INTERNATIONAL. Upon leaving WMG in AUGUST 2004, AMES was appointed senior advisor to TIME WARNER and to EMI MUSIC.
AMES began his career in the music industry with EMI UK in 1975. In 1979 he joined POLYGRAM UK and in 1993 was named its Chairman/CEO, responsible for all of POLYGRAM’s activities in IRELAND and the UK. AMES was named Exec. VP of POLYGRAM and President of the POLYGRAM MUSIC GROUP in 1996.
"ROGER's vast experience and track record in the creative community equip him well to oversee our North American business at this important time in our company's development," NICOLI said.
