ABC RADIO living legend PAUL HARVEY is adding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the long list of honors he's received in his career. "The industry has been very generous over the years...but this...I'm sure you know...is set apart in a category all by itself," HARVEY told ABC after receiving news of the honor.
HARVEY is on the list of medal recipients this year, along with MUHAMMAD ALI, CAROL BURNETT, INTERNET pioneers VINTON CERF and ROBERT KAHN, historian ROBERT CONQUEST, ARETHA FRANKLIN, departing Fed Chairman ALAN GREENSPAN, ANDY GRIFFITH, retired Rep. SONNY MONTGOMERY (D-MS), Gen. RICHARD B. MYERS, JACK NICKLAUS, WASHINGTON NATIONALS manager FRANK ROBINSON, and PAUL RUSESABAGINA, the Rwandan hotel manager whose life inspired the film "HOTEL RWANDA." The medals will be awarded in a NOVEMBER 9 ceremony.
