B.C. AM Gets CRTC OK For FM Move

The CRTC gives the OK for VISTA RADIO LTD. to move its AC CHQB-A/POWELL RIVER, BC to FM but told the licensee to find another frequency for the station, rejecting the application for 94.1 FM, because the proposed facility conflicts with the CBC's plans to expand its RADIO ONE and RADIO TWO services into the area. At the same time, the Commission rejected WESTWAVE BROADCASTING's application for 105.3 FM in POWELL RIVER.

And PINERIDGE BROADCASTING has received the CRTC's blessing to increase the power of its AC CHUC (107.9 THE BREEZE)/COBOURG, ON from 1,030 watts to 6,300 watts to fix reception problems in NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY. CHUC moved from AM to FM last year.
