FLAT FOOT MEDIA Christian AC and CHR KHIS/CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO hit the airwaves on FRIDAY, APRIL 13. A non-commercial, listener-supported, all-music station, KHIS serves CAPE GIRARDEAU and the surrounding communities including SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY and originates 100% of its programming locally.
“The KHIS format is a shot down the middle between [Christian AC and CHR],” says PD DAVE OBERGOENNER. “We play about half of the CHR charts, stuff that can still mesh well with music from the AC charts. Some of the hotter CHR tracks do get some day-part restrictions (to evenings).”
The station will be conducting numerous live remotes throughout the summer with “sticker stops” to get the word out. “We are really the only local station playing Contemporary Christian Music," says OBERGOENNER. "We strongly believe making the local connection with the listeners is critical to this format. The response to KHIS has been almost overwhelming from the local community."
The KHIS air staff consists of mornings and lunch with DAVID, afternoons with GLEN CANTRELL, overnights with MIDNIGHT MO and weekends with KEVIN ALEXANDER.
The station’s mailing address is KHIS Radio, P.O. Box 1030, CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO, 63702. The phone number is (573) 334-4655. A temporary website is available at www.khisradio.org with a redesign coming soon.
