PERRY, IA lost local English-language programming on FM when KDLS-A-F was sold to LATIN BROADCASTING CORP. and the FM was flipped to Spanish. Now, the DES MOINES REGISTER reports that a local businessman is trying to raise the cash to buy the AM signal to preserve its local English-language programming. BLUE JAY MARKET owner BOB BOYLE is raising pledges to invest in the AM station and tells the REGISTER he's raised about $40,000. with a goal of about $300,000.
CHESTER COLEMAN, who is selling KDLS-A-F to LATIN, says that he doesn't anticipate the station will be put up for sale and expects the AM to remain in its local Variety "TRUE MIX" format.
