CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WKST (96.1 KISS-FM)/PITTSBURGH afternoon host SCOTTY GUNTHER, who is also a comedian and author, will preempt the regular KISS programming today (11/7) to discuss the recent ABECROMBIE AND FITCH "GIRLCOTT." GUENTHER, who has been known to create controversy by advocating moral and responsible behavior to his mostly female audience, plans to use his show to urge listeners to call in with suggestions for positive, empowering slogans to replace the slogans on ABECROMBIE AND FITCH t-shirts that some people found offensive.
It's exciting to see young women taking initiative...
Local group ALLEGHENY COUNTY GIRLS AS GRANTMAKERS received national attention for their "girlcott" against the chain for selling shirts with slogans such as "Who Needs Brains When You Have These." ABERCROMBIE AND FITCH agreed to remove the shirts from their stores, and issued a statement saying that they plan to meet with the group to discuss developing apparel with empowering slogans. GUENTHER said, "My show has been promotiong this type of behavior for two years. It's exciting to see young women taking the initiative to do this in PITTSBURGH."
