CORUS RADIO/HAMILTON -- Talk CHML-A, Country CING (COUNTRY 95.3), and Classic Rock CJXY (Y108) -- has collected close to 500 signatures and is trying to get another 500 on a petition to the NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE to allow the NASHVILLE PREDATORS to move to HAMILTON. The HAMILTON SPECTATOR reports that CORUS RADIO has been collecting signatures in its parking lot and will continue to do so through 5p ET today (6/19).
The PREDATORS are in the process of being sold to WATERLOO, ON-based RESEARCH IN MOTION Chairman/co-CEO JIM BALSILLIE, and the team can terminate its lease at SOMMET CENTER in NASHVILLE if the average attendance this season is under 14,000. BALSILLIE is taking season-ticket deposits for HAMILTON, which has an arena (COPPS COLISEUM) ready for the PREDS should they move north. The NHL Board of Governors meet tomorrow afternoon to discuss the sale.
