GREATER MEDIA Jazz WJJZ (SMOOTH JAZZ 97.5)/PHILADELPHIA has moved to its new antenna location on the WYNDMOOR, PA tower shared with CLEAR CHANNEL Rhythmic AC WISX (MY 106.1). The move from the 97.5 frequency's former longtime TRENTON antenna location gives the station city-grade coverage of PHILADELPHIA and the immediate suburbs with a class B signal (26,000 watts at 682 feet above average terrain, directional).
"This is the last piece of the puzzle," said Station Manager JIM BROWN. "GREATER MEDIA has made a substantial investment to bring Smooth Jazz music back to this area. The community was very disappointed to lose this format and GREATER MEDIA responded. We are thrilled to be able to offer the Smooth Jazz sounds to the people of the DELAWARE VALLEY."
"WJJZ is very special in that the station reflects the market," said PD MICHAEL TOZZI. "Most stations cover one segment of the market place, whereas WJJZ goes well beyond those boundaries. Our music finds common ground for the people in the community and it's a beautiful thing."
"I've been an engineer in this business for 40 years and this project is right at the top of the list when it comes to career highlights," said GREATER MEDIA VP of Engineering MILFORD "SMITTY" SMITH. "This work represents an extremely important signal improvement for the listeners in the DELAWARE VALLEY and I am really proud to be part of the project."
