The CRTC has approved a new low-power community station for HORNBY ISLAND, BC. The HORNBY COMMUNITY RADIO SOCIETY will operate at 96.5 FM with 5 watts ERP. The station will offer 126 hours per week of programming, including 100 hours of local programming plus five hours of material from CHLY/NANAIMO, BC and five hours in French. The applicant previously won a license for 5 watts at 91.5 FM in 2004 but never built the station.
HORNBY ISLAND is off the east coast of VANCOUVER ISLAND, north of NANAIMO and just south of COURTENAY.
