HOWARD STERN returned from suspension WEDNESDAY (11/9), opening the show with a 20-minute montage of songs like LED ZEPPELIN/Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, DOORS/The End, DON HENLEY/The End Of The Innocence, and CREAM/I Feel Free into a 15 minute commercial break before he spoke his first words.
He began by saying that he has received another "legal letter" -- his third -- about what he can and can't say about SIRIUS on his show, and said "This doesn't feel right, it feels like you guys are preparing a case against me -- I'm feeling like my back's up against the wall and If I'm doing something inappropriate, just tell me, let's sit down...."
It feels like a breakup -- it is a breakup
WXRK/NEW YORK GM TOM CHIUSANO arranged a meeting between STERN, his agent DON BUCHWALD, INFINITY head JOEL HOLLANDER, and himself on TUESDAY to discuss the matter at a NEW YORK restaurant. "It feels like a breakup -- it IS a breakup," STERN said he told HOLLANDER, adding that he suggested that when conflicts arise again, that they give each other a call. "Everybody was very happy with the outcome of the meeting," STERN concluded. "Cooler heads prevailed."
STERN acknowledged with some amusement that a rally by fans against the suspension drew a crowd of just nine people.
