The FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION would have to do a major study of food industry TV and radio marketing aimed at children if a bill that has reached the SENATE COMMERCE COMMITTEE is passed.
BROADCASTING AND CABLE reports that the bill, introduced by Sen. TOM HARKIN (D-IA) and sent to the committee by a joint House/Senate conference committee last week, requires an FTC report by JULY 1, 2006 that analyzes ads, product placement, in-store marketing, and other marketing plans on TV, radio, the Internet, movies, and video games.
