ALL ACCESS has learned that CRAWFORD BROADCASTING is releasing THE STEVE HARVEY MORNING SHOW from its Urban AC WSRB (SOUL 106)/CHICAGO. The reason is to enable the station to replace it with a locally originated show that can provide better local content .
According to the CHICAGO SUN TIMES, even though WSRB had a contract with over a year to go, it wanted to make a change. As of AUGUST 1, THE STEVE HARVEY MORNING SHOW is history.
The same sources tell us that CLEAR CHANNEL Urban WGCI is prepared to replace veteran CHICAGO morning talent “CRAZY” HOWARD McGEE in order to bring HARVEY aboard. Inside sources claim that McGEE may wind up on CLEAR CHANNEL Urban AC WVAZ (V103) if and when TOM JOYNER’s contact is up, or it may even be interrupted.
Harvey Heads To WUBT
Meanwhile, CLEAR CHANNEL Urban WUBT (101.1 THE BEAT)/NASHVILLE has added the syndicated STEVE HARVEY MORNING SHOW to its daily lineup. The show will debut MONDAY (7/9) from 5-9a. HARVEY will replace the syndicated DOUG BANKS SHOW.“I am truly excited about The STEVE HARVEY MORNING SHOW coming to NASHVILLE." said WUBT PD PAMELA ANIESE. “STEVE is one of the funniest comedians of today and will bring star power to the NASHVILLE market. We are looking forward to STEVE and his crew being a part of the WUBT family.”
