President BUSH will nominate TENNESSEE REGULATORY AUTHORITY director DEBORAH TAYLOR TATE for the Republican seat on the FCC that will become vacant with the departure of KATHLEEN ABERNATHY at the end of the year, the WHITE HOUSE said WEDNESDAY. TATE's experience includes serving on a state-federal panel on technology regulation created by former FCC Chairman MICHAEL POWELL.
BUSH also renominated Democrat MICHAEL COPPS for a new five year term on the Commission.
