CORUS AC CKCB (95.1 THE PEAK)/COLLINGWOOD, ON has been turned down by the CRTC for a power increase from 350 to 4,000 watts at a greater antenna height. The Commission noted that the new facility would add coverage of adjacent WASAGA BEACH, which would create unanticipated competition for newly launched BAYSHORE BROADCASTING AC CHGB/WASAGA BEACH.
In addition, the Commission also rejected CJNE FM RADIO INC.'s application for a new transmitter at TISDALE, SK to rebroadcast its Classic Hits CJNE (THE STORM)/NIPAWIN, SK. The rejection was based on the primary station's non-compliance with Canadian content and news rules, and that the new transmitter would negatively impact local radio revenue in the TISDALE community.
