Talk Host's Anti-Illegal Immigration Rally Draws Press Criticism

CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WELI-A/NEW HAVEN host JERRY KRISTAFER's participation in an anti-illegal immigration rally TUESDAY drew criticism from the local press, who noted ties between a local group involved in the protest and the JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY. 

The rally with "SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT IMMIGRATION REFORM" protested the city's move to issue ID cards to illegal immigrants to help them get city services and bank accounts; SCIR organizer DUSTIN GOLD told the local NEW HAVEN INDEPENDENT Web site that his group has a "good relationship" with the local JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY chapter. The INDEPENDENT also reports that KRISTAFER told it that "groups can agree on an issue or two without sharing entire agendas."
