More NEW YORK newspaper reports state that the deal to bring BOOMER ESIASON in as CBS Sports WFAN-A/NEW YORK's new morning host is close, as the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS' BOB RAISSMAN writes in SUNDAY's column that the parties have reached an "agreement in principle" for the former JETS and BENGALS quarterback and current CBS NFL studio analyst to take over DON IMUS' former slot on the station as early as SEPTEMBER 4. NEWSDAY's NEIL BEST reports the same, describing the deal as "imminent."
RAISSMAN also writes that, as previously rumored, MILLENIUM Talk WKXW (NEW JERSEY 101.5)/TRENTON afternoon "JERSEY GUYS" co-host CRAIG CARTON will move up the TURNPIKE to serve as ESIASON's sidekick, although fellow DAILY NEWS columnist DAVID HINCKLEY notes that the CARTON reports remain unconfirmed.
