Report: TV Co. Sues To Stop AR Sportscaster From Doing Radio Show

NEXTSTAR BROADCASTING is suing sports talk host BO MATTINGLY, claiming that MATTINGLY is violating a noncompete clause in his contract by starting his statewide syndicated radio show, which airs on CUMULUS Talk KFAY-A/FAYETTEVILLE, AR, after quitting NEXTSTAR's NBC affiliate KNWA-TV/ROGERS-FAYETTEVILLE. 

According to ARKANSAS BUSINESS, NEXTSTAR claims that it has a one-year noncompete that prevents MATTINGLY from working for a competitor in the LITTLE ROCK, FORT SMITH, FAYETTEVILLE, SPRINGDALE, ROGERS and BENTONVILLE areas; the company seeks to keep MATTINGLY off the air for a year and at least $75,000 in damages.  

MATTINGLY tells ARKANSAS SPORTS 360, "I'm going to do my job and let my attorneys do theirs.  For me it's going to be business as usual."   KFAY GM JOE CONWAY tells the site that MATTINGLY is not a CUMULUS employee, noting, "I don't see how anyone could be under the impression that BO is an employee of ours. We're simply an affiliate that happens to carry his show."
