SALISBURY BROADCASTING CORP. is selling Talk-Sports KXTY/MORRO BAY, CA to LAZER BROADCASTING CORPORATION's LAZER LICENSES, LLC for $1 million.
LAZER is buying the station under rights assigned to it by MAPLETON COMMUNICATIONS, which has the original deal to buy the station, and is paying MAPLETON $200,000 ($50,000 with the agreement, $150,000 upon closing) plus other liabilities for the assignment, which originally was held by LOCAL MEDIA, LLC before that company breached the assignment agreement. KXTY is presently programmed by AMERICAN GENERAL MEDIA under an LMA.
Noalmark Closes On Arkadelphia Trio, Names Merrill GM
NOALMARK BROADCASTING CORP. closes on the purchase of AC KDEL-F and Adult Standards KVRC-A/ARKADELPHIA, AR and Country KYXK (KIX 106.9)/GURDON, AR from JAY and TERESA BUNYARD's CLARK COUNTY BROADCASTING INC. for $600,000. Veteran ARKANSAS sportscaster GRANT MERRILL has been appointed GM of the ARKADELPHIA cluster.
MERRILL says, "I have always loved this area and am excited to follow the traditions of people like EDDIE GRAHAM, JERRY WESTMORELAND, REX NELSON, and former Governor MIKE HUCKABEE who spent so many years bringing quality radio to this area."
FCC Allows Virgina LPFM Transfer
The FCC has granted the assignment of the permit of low power FM WSCE-LP/WOODSTOCK, VA from SHENANDOAH COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS to PORTERING THE GLORY INTERNATIONAL, INC. d/b/a CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP MINISTRIES. The application gave the reason for the transfer as the school board's unwillingness to fund a radio station for only one of its schools; the Commission approved the deal under its practice of allowing otherwise-prohibited LPFM transfers on a case-by-case basis.
