CLEAR CHANNEL Smooth Jazz KIJZ/PORTLAND has flipped to Classic Hits "KOOL 105.9," playing the best of the '60s, '70s, and '80s. Although new cal letters weren't specified in its announcement, sources tell ALL ACCESS that they will change to KQOL. CLEAR CHANNEL RVP TONY COLES will program the station.
"KOOL 105.9 FM is a radio station created by PORTLAND listeners," said VP/Market Mgr. Robert Dove. "KOOL 105.9 FM will feature a wide variety of fun songs from three decades of the greatest music ever made. Listeners will have the unique opportunity to help build our playlist each day through our interactive website (www.kool1059.com). Portland’s KOOL 105.9 FM is an ideal home for a radio format that fills a void for listeners looking for more variety. From Pop to Rock, R&B to Disco, they will find it here."
"The exciting thing about this radio station is that unlike a lot of radio stations, our listeners are telling us what they consider to be the greatest hits of all time, and we're playing them all on one radio station, TONY COLES said.
