Top 40: Timbaland On Top; Boys Like Girls Top Ten; Britney Solid Early
TIMBALAND moves to the #1 spot on the Top 40 chart with "The Way I Are" (featuring KERI HILSON) (Interscope). This gives INTERSCOPE nine straight weeks on top as "Big Girls Don't Cry (Personal)" by FERGIE spent the last eight weeks there ... The next #1 you ask? Very likely "Who Knew" by PINK (LaFace/Zomba), who rises 5*-4* ... There is only new entry into the top ten -- and that belongs to BOYS LIKE GIRLS "The Great Escape" (Columbia). The song gets there in week 16 and was able to do so without the benefit of airplay at other formats - a rare feat these days for a new act... KANYE WEST soars 18*-14* with "Stronger" (Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam/IDJMG) and posts this week's #1 spincrease...
Also entering the top 15 -- and scoring the third largest spincrease this week is "Me Love" by SEAN KINGSTON (Epic) - which moves 17*-15*... New to the top 20 is DAUGHTRY's "Over You" (RCA/RMG) - which climbs 21*-19*... Solid research has helped rejuvinate KAT DELUNA's "Whine Up" (Epic) -- which jumps 40*-34*... Three songs debut this week: "Ayo Technology" by 50 CENT (G-Unit/Interscope) at #38, "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" by SOULJA BOY (Collipark/Interscope) at #39 and the #1 Active Rock and Alternative hit from FINGER ELEVEN, entitled "Paralyzer" (Wind-up) at #40...
Look out for: "Gimme More" by BRITNEY SPEARS (Jive/Zomba) -- which was #51 after only a few days of airplay.
Rhythmic: Plies #1; J. Holiday Soars; Nelly Up Ten; Wyclef Debuts
After coming thisclose last week, PLIES gets to the top this week with "Shawty," featuring T-PAIN (Big Gates/Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic)... New to the top five is "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" by SOULJA BOY (Collipark/Interscope) at #5. He is just 75 spins behind a rising KEYSHIA COLE -- who holds at #4 with "Let It Go" (Geffen)... An enormous move into the top ten for "Bed" by J. HOLIDAY (Music Line/Capitol) -- which soars 18*-10* - with growth of nearly 1000 spins... Only one new entry into the top 20 -- and that comes from WILL.I.AM. (Interscope), who moves 22*-20* with "I Got It From My Mama"...
The largest chart position growth this week comes from NELLY as "Wadsyaname" (Universal Motown) motors from 31*-21*... Following in the footsteps of his #1 hit "Make Me Better," FABOLOUS rises 30*-23* with the follow-up "Baby Don't Go," featuring T-PAIN (Def Jam/IDJMG)... A nice move for "Hate That I Love You" by RIHANNA featuring NE-YO (Def Jam/IDJMG) - which climbs 40*-32*... Debuts for "Get Buck In Here" by FELLI FEL f/AKON & DIDDY (Rock Hill) at #36 and WYCLEF JEAN's "Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill)" at #38.
Urban: Keyshia Cole Holds Off Soulja Boy; 50 Cent, T.I. Return To Top Ten
KEYSHIA COLE holds on to the top spot with "Let It Go" (Geffen) -- as he holds off a charging "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" by SOULJA BOY (Collipark/Interscope) - which rises 346 spins to #2... Of the two 50 CENT tracks out at radio, "I Get Money" (G-Unit/Interscope) appears to be the bigger hit -- as it soars 14*-8* at Urban ...
50 and T.I. both enter the top ten this week - as the latter's "You Know What It Is" (Grand Hustle/Atlantic) moves 11*-9*... A stellar move for UGK - as "International Players Anthem" (Jive/Zomba) vaults 18*-12*... NELLY soars - with a 40*-26* move for "Wadsyaname" (Universal Motown)... While the song is top ten Rhythmic and top 15 at top 40, "Stronger" by KANYE WEST (Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam/IDJMG) is this week's lone debut at #37... Watch out for: "No One" by ALICIA KEYS (J/RMG) - which just missed charting at #41.
Urban AC: Top 6 Status Quo; Ne-Yo Top Ten; Chaka Khan Top 15
Not a very active week on the Urban AC chart with the top six songs remaining the same from last week. "Baby" by ANGIE STONE (Stax/Concord) rises 9*-7*, while "Do You" by NE-YO (Def Jam/IDJMG) moves 11*-9* and is this week's lone new entry into the top ten... CHAKA KHAN is back as "Angel" (Burgundy/Columbia) rises 17*-15* ...
You can add Urban AC to list of formats for J. HOLIDAY as "Bed" (Music Line/Capitol) climbs 23*-20* here... A debut for "Taste" by RICK JAMES (Stone City) at #30.
AC: Daughtry Reigns Supreme; Eagles Fly Into The Top 15
DAUGHTRY spends another week atop the AC chart with "Home" (RCA/RMG)... FERGIE may be the next #1 -- but she has 400 spins to make up as "Big Girls Don't Cry (Personal)" (Will.I.Am/A&M/Interscope) rises 4*-2*... A strong 10*-8* move for "Hey There Delilah" by PLAIN WHITE T's (Hollywood) -- which scores this week's largest spincrease at +230... #2 on the spincrease list is "How Long" by the EAGLES (ERC/Mercury/Lost Highway) -- which is #14 in only their second week on the chart ... Two 70's cover songs are holding strong as "Band Of Gold" by KIMBERLY LOCKE (Curb) is at #18 and "Fire And Rain" by BABYFACE (Mercury/IDJMG) climbs 26*-21*...
Two debuts: "Almost Lover" by A FINE FRENZY (Virgin) at #29 and "When You're Gone" by AVRIL LAVIGNE (Arista/RMG) at #30.
Hot AC: Fergie On Top; Four Acts Score Two In Top 25; Four Debuts
FERGIE is #1 for a second week with "Big Girls Don't Cry (Personal)" (Will.I.Am/A&M/Interscope)... Four artists have two songs each in the top 25: MAROON 5 are at #4 with "Makes Me Wonder" and climb 27*-23* with "Wake Up Call" (A&M/Octone/Interscope)... DAUGHTRY (RCA/RMG) slide to #5 with the former chart topper "Home," while "Over You" rises 19*-14* and has this week's #2 largest spincrease... PINK has this week's largest spincrease (+394), while moving 8*-7* with "Who Knew" (LaFace/Zomba). Meanwhile, "U + Ur Hand" sits at #13... GWEN STEFANI (Interscope) slides 9-11 with "The Sweet Escape," while "4 In The Morning" remains at #18... COLBIE CAILLAT rises 15*-12* with "Bubbly" (Universal Republic) - as she appears on track for a quick move into the top ten... EMERSON HART goes top 20 -- as "If You're Gonna Leave" (Manhattan/Capitol) climbs 23*-19*...TRAIN lead singer PAT MONAHAN rises 29*-25* with "Her Eyes" (Columbia)... There are four chart debuts: "Love Song" by SARA BAREILLES (Epic) at #37, "Last Request" by PAOLO NUTINI (Lava/Atlantic) at #38, VANESSA CARLTON's "Nolita Fairytale" (The Inc./Universal Motown) at #39, and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE's "Lovestoned" (Jive/Zomba) at #40. On the move: "7 Days Of Lonely" by I NINE (J/RMG) - which was #50 in its first full week of airplay.
Active Rock: Battle For Top Spot Brewing; Seether Soars
A battle for the top spot at Active Rock is building at Active Rock. THREE DAYS GRACE remains on top with "Never Too Late" (Jive/Zomba) - but only finished with a 32 spin lead on PUDDLE OF MUDD's "Famous" (Geffen) - which was also off 23 spins. Also in the mix is "I Get It" by CHEVELLE (Epic) - which climbs 4*-3* at +15 spins... LINKIN PARK's "Bleed It Out" (Warner Bros.) moves 6*-4* at +76 and may have the best shot if it keeps momentum...
Finally, the FOO FIGHTERS "The Pretender" (RCA/RMG) holds at 5* and KID ROCK's "So Hott" (Atlantic) soars 9*-7* at +176 spins - making it a contender within a couple of weeks... With some specialty programming for the holiday, Active Rock saw some slower spincreases - so we looked more at chart move. ALTER BRIDGE rises 16*-12* with "Rise Today" (Universal Republic)... OZZY OSBOURNE (Epic) posts a 19*-14* gain for "Not Going Away"... The big move of the week goes to SEETHER (Wind-up) - who surge from 38*-18* with "Fake It"... Another top 20 hit for PAPA ROACH as "Time Is Running Out" (Geffen) climbs 23*-19*... VELVET REVOLVER leap a dozen chart positions with "The Last Fight" (RCA/RMG) surging 39*-27*... ANOTHER ANIMAL debut at #36 with "Broken Again" (Universal Republic)... Also debuting are SALIVA (Def Jam/IDJMG) at #38 with "King Of The Stereo."
Alternative: Two Female Led Bands Now In Top Ten; Jimmy Eats Way On To Chart
On a week where a number of songs lost their bullet because of holiday rogramming, the FOO FIGHTERS remain #1 with "The Pretender" (RCA/RMG)... LINKIN PARK could have the inside track to the next #1 as "Bleed It Out" (Warner Bros.) rises 3*-2*... Two songs led by female vocalists now rank in the top ten. "Misery Business" by PARAMORE (Fueled By Ramen/Lava/Atlantic) rises 10*-9*, while FLYLEAF scores their first top ten Alternative hit with "All Around Me" (A&M/Octone/Interscope), moving 12*-10* ...
KID ROCK moves 20*-15* with "So Hott" (Atlantic), while AGAINST ME goes top 20 with "Thrash Unreal" (Sire/Reprise)...SEETHER score a huge debut at #29 with "Fake It" (Wind-up)... Also debuting are WHITE STRIPES at #32 with "You Don't Know What Love Is" (Third Man/Warner Bros.) and JIMMY EAT WORLD's "Big Casino" (Interscope) at #37, which did so in its first week of airplay... ANGELS AND AIRWAVES "Everything's Magic" (Suretone/Geffen) - should chart easily next week and was #46 after just six days of airplay.
