RAB: Radio Revenues Drop In Q2

The RAB reports that second-quarter radio revenue dropped again, this time 1% overall to $5.707 billion, with local revenue falling 2% to $3.876 billion, national off 2% to $1.128 billion, local and national combined dropping 2% to $5.004 billion, network revenue also off 2% to $294 million. The only bright spot was non-spot revenue. which rose 16% to $409 million.
For the first half of 2007, local revenue fell 1% to $7.1 billion, national dropped 2% to $2.073 billion (local and national combined off 1% to $9.173 billion), network revenue rose 3% to $551 million, and non-spot revenue gained 12% to $711 million, resulting in overall revenue flat at $10.435 billion.
Second-quarter's greatest growth came in the Communications/Cell/Public Utilities (16%) and Insurance (14%) categories, followed by Professional Services (6%) and Concerts/Theaters/Movies (4%).
