MTV will launch a high-definition music channel that will broadcast live from a glass-walled studio high atop VAIL MOUNTAIN in COLORADO to capitalize on the spectacular view. Dubbed "MHD," the new channel will feature a wide variety of music styles (Hip-Hop, Rock, Country, Pop, Reggaeton, Soul and more) as well as original music-based programming.
MHD is scheduled to launch on JANUARY 16th 2006 from a studio atop the EAGLE'S NEST restaurant complex, which is 10,350 feet above sea level. VJs will include Olympic skier JEREMY BLOOM, and MTVU VJ GEORGE OLIPHANT.
"I don't think we could have found a better locale to give viewers a spectacular backdrop for MHD than VAIL and the COLORADO Rockies," said TONY DUNAIF, SVP/Business Development for MTV NETWORKS MUSIC GROUP. DUNAIF said MTV wanted a studio location that would showcase HDTV's capabilities. BILL JENSEN, VAIL RESORTS' COO and SVP, said, "This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase skiing and snowboarding in COLORADO, and we truly appreciate being selected as the backdrop to launch MHD."
