CHET-5 BROADCASTING AAA WDST (100.1 RADIO WOODSTOCK)/WOODSTOCK-POUGHKEEPSIE, NY has declared DECEMBER 8th "GIVE PEACE A CHANCE DAY." WDST will dedicate the entire day of promgramming to songs of peace in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the late-great JOHN LENNON. At noon (ET), WDST will observe a moment of silence and then play LENNON's song "Give Peace A Chance." WDST is encouraging all radio stations to follow suit.
WDST Owner GARY CHETKOF said, "With the situation in the world the way it is now, war in IRAQ, terrorism, civil unrest in other parts of the world, the war on terror, we thought that `GIVE PEACE A CHANCE DAY' was a fitting way to remember JOHN LENNON and the succinct message of peace he left behind in that song."
In unrelated 25th Anniversary news, WDST has released a "25th Anniversary CD" with 34 live songs by artists recorded exclusively for WDST. Proceeds from the two-CD set benefit the DYSON CENTER FOR CANCER CARE at VASSAR BROTHERS HOSPITAL in POUGHKEEPSIE.
