Shocker! EMMIS Top 40 WNOU (RADIO NOW 93.1) will become the new home of Talker WIBC-A/INDIANAPOLIS, and WIBC-A will take on ESPN Sport format on JANUARY 7th, with new calls. WNOU is currently stunting with 93 Days Of Christmas on the air until the flip to ESPN, and the new calls, WIBC.
At WNOU
ALL ACCESS confirms that WNOU PD CHRIS PICKETT is no longer with the station and is returning to KVUU (MY 99.9)/COLORADO SPRINGS as PD. Reach CHRIS at (317) 605-3759 or pickman104@yahoo.com.
WNOU morning show MARCO, SHANNON & SUPER FAT MIKEY and afternooner NIGEL are out. Reach NIGEL at (317) 966-7055. Word is that APD/MD/night personality TIM RAINEY may stay aboard in another capacity. But, he's fielding options at (918) 520-0160 or rayne@timrainey.com.
WNOU was ranked #2 18-34, and #4 18-49 in the SPRING 2007 ARBITRON survey -- and the speculation begins as to who will fill the Top 40 void in INDY.
At WIBC
WIBC-A will move to the 93.1 FM frequency starting with a "93 Days of CHRISTMAS" music broadcast on the FM before splitting on JANUARY 7th. The AM will flip to Sports at that time using ESPN RADIO.
"Our research shows that we can best grow and serve our audiences by splitting and extending our programming," said VP/Market Mgr. TOM SEVERINO. "WIBC is still going to have the biggest radio news team in the state and the best Talk lineup. As we prepare for the expansion, listeners will have 24-hour holiday music to enjoy, as well as some fun promotions leading up to the split on January 7th."
The INDIANAPOLIS COLTS and PACERS will continue to air on 1070 AM along with auto racing and INDIANA UNIVERSITY football. COLTS games, the INDY 500 and The ALLSTATE 400 at the BRICKYARD will continue to be simulcast on 97.1 HANK FM.
RADIONOW's format will continue as an HD2 and Internet streaming channel.
