Appalachian State Names Building After Beasley

APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY has named its new radio and TV complex after BEASLEY BROADCASTING founder, Chairman and CEO GEORGE G. BEASLEY. 

The school's Board of Trustees voted to approve the naming of the GEORGE G. BEASLEY BROADCASTING COMPLEX at its SEPTEMBER meeting. The building, presently part of the REICH COLLEGE OF EDUCATION and scheduled for reconstruction and renovation after the Communication Disorders Clinic moves to a new location, will be partially funded by a gift from BEASLEY and is scheduled to open in 2010. It will house WASU radio, classrooms, TV and radio production facilities, and the KELLAR RADIO FARM SYSTEM INSTITUTE.

"GEORGE BEASLEY well knows how a college education can change a person’s life," said Chancellor KENNETH E. PEACOCK, noting that as a young man, BEASLEY joined the ARMY to pay for his college education. "This is truly a life-transforming gift that will enable other students to pursue their dreams of a earning a college degree and entering a career in broadcasting." 

BEASLEY serves on the school's Board of Trustees and Foundation Board of Directors.
