As first tipped on ALL ACCESS (NET NEWS 10/12), veteran programmer JACK EVANS has signed on as GAP WEST VP/Programming & Operations for the 59 stations in that group. EVANS will relocate from SAN DIEGO to DENVER shortly.
EVANS told ALL ACCESS, "(President) SKIP WELLER and I were across the street from each other at one time in DENVER, and I quickly learned that what SKIP had built at KOSI meant that the product was bullet-proof. We became really good friends over the years and stayed in contact, and began talking about this opportunity back in JULY. Getting a chance like this to help SKIP was a dream come true.
"During this last year I really took the time to think about the next chapter in my career and how I wanted to do something that took me back to what I enjoyed most. At GAP WEST, I can do this as I really love being in markets and working hands-on with local radio operators including programmers, managers, sales departments and their staffs in an effort to get the very best product to serve their individual markets and audiences. I am looking to doing great radio, as it was meant to be done. Now I have to find the time finish the last two chapters of the book I've been writing, and thank GOD I got my AUSTRALIAN Shepherd trained in time."
