CBS News KFWB-A/LOS ANGELES is now offering 6-8a PT SATURDAYS and SUNDAYS for sale to block programmers.
ALL ACCESS obtained an e-mail from a sales account executive, offering the time at a rate of $6,000 per hour and adding that the time "will go fast" and is a first for the station in 40 years of News programming.
The move would be the first major departure from the station's 24/7 news wheel other than DODGER baseball, which it carried for the last five years before losing the contract to crosstown CITADEL Talk KABC-A this week.
Late WEDNESDAY, PD ANDY LUDLUM told ALL ACCESS, "We investigate everything -- but we've not seen any block programming we are interested in. Not now -- and there's nothing definite in the future. We were a little surprised by the demand, but we're happy to be ALL NEWS, ALL THE TIME. A distinction that is completely clear now that the Dodgers broadcast deal has ended. We're aleady reminding LA listeners of our 40 year heritage in the all-news format -- and have big plans for celebrating the anniversary MARCH 11, 2008."
