Did public radio and TV stations illegally use federal funds to urge listeners to lobby Congress to restore public broadcasting funding that had been cut? The CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING's Inspector General KENNETH KONZ, fresh off investigating former Chairman KENNETH Y. TOMLINSON, is turning his eye towards stations' use of public funds to push a political message, telling BLOOMBERG NEWS that "(i)f stations keep track of what they spend their federal money on, it shouldn't be hard to find out if they are using it to lobby... If not, we'll have to see what we can find out." Eighteen Republican lawmakers asked KONZ to look into the activities of PBS and NPR affiliates and find out how they account for the use of the funds.
