MIAMI UNIVERSITY of OHIO is holding discussions with two DAYTON public radio stations on how to cooperate in order to relieve budgetary pressures on the school while operating its noncommercial WMUB/MIAMI, OH.
The CINCINNATI ENQUIRER's JOHN KIESEWETTER reports that WMUB GM CLEVE CALLISON said, "We've been talking at a fairly serious level for about six months with (ANTIOCH UNIVERSITY NPR affiliate) WYSO/YELLOW SPRINGS and (DAYTON PUBLIC RADIO Classical) WDPR/DAYTON on ways to cooperate and collaborate with each other." A 10-month review by a committee appointed by the school resulted in a recommendation to seek collaborations or lease the station to another operator, but stopped short of recommending either that the station be sold or continue as is.
The school subsidized the station with about 62% of the station's $1.7 million budget last year.
