CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 KZZP/PHOENIX and KRQ/TUCSON morning duo JOHNJAY AND RICH's "Confession WEDNESDAY" helped play a role in a "48 Hours" murder mystery to air SATURDAY at 10p on CBS TV. Although they're far from being detectives, JOHNJAY and RICH helped seal the fate of a murderer with just one phone call.
Dr. BRIAN STIDHAM, 37, was a successful children's eye doctor in TUCSON, AZ. His practicing partner, Dr. BRADLEY SCHWARTZ, had a hidden life involving extramarital affairs, drugs and a deep hatred for STIDHAM. On OCTOBER 5th, 2004, STIDHAM was found murdered in the parking lot of his practice.
During "Confession WEDNESDAY," JOHNJAY AND RICH aired a confession by a woman who revealed that her boyfiend, Dr. SCHWARTZ, wanted his partner dead. This call sparked many more calls from women all over the city who were involved with SCHWARTZ, and could confirm that he wanted STIDHAM dead. SCHWARTZ listened to the live broadcast from his prison cell, and at one time even threatened the lives of JOHNJAY and RICH.
According to Exec. Producer SUSAN ZIRINSKY, this story is so unbelievable that HOLLYWOOD would think it's "not realistic enough" for film.
