At a press-conference this morning (11/2), held at the MUSICIANS HALL OF FAME in NASHVILLE, BIG MACHINE RECORDS CEO/President SCOTT BORCHETTA announced the launch The VALORY MUSIC CO., which will be a sister imprint to BIG MACHINE, but will have its own promotion team and artist roster.
The new "branding" team will be headed up by VP/Promotions JON LOBA, who was most recently at BBR (BROKEN BOW RECORDS). Joining as National Promotions Director will be CHRIS LOSS. CHRIS, formerly of LYRIC STREET, will handle the West Coast as well. Coming aboard for the Southeast will be JO JAMIE HAHR, formerly of BBR. She also did stints at MCA and CLEAR CHANNEL WSIX/NASHVILLE. MIRANDA WILLIAMS, most recently at CMT RADIO, rounds out the VALORY team and will direct promotion and marketing for the Southwest.
BORCHETTA announced three artists signed to the VALORY roster today, most notably JEWEL, who has been recording in NASHVILLE with JOHN RICH producing. JIMMY WAYNE, who worked with BORCHETTA at DREAMWORKS, and JUSTIN MOORE round out the VALORY MUSIC CO., roster, at least for now.
BORCHETTA said that he came up with the name of the new imprint while having coffee at BORDERS one day. "I never knew that it was JUNE CARTER CASH's real first name, " said BORCHETTA. "As I read more and more about the definitions of VALORY, meaning 'strength,' 'tenacity,' 'steadfastness,' I knew that we would be called the VALORY MUSIC CO."
BORCHETTA also noted that a new Northeast rep will be named shortly. For information on VMC, their website is already in place at www.thevalorymusicco.com.
