MAIN LINE BROADCASTING heritage Top 40/Mainstream WGTZ/DAYTON is heritage no longer, as it just unveiled its new format ... and it's a Jack-ish Adult Hits format. Now calling itself "FLY 92.9," 'GTZ launched with the theme-appropriate "Fly Like An Eagle" by STEVE MILLER and "Fly" by SUGAR RAY.
"In conjunction with the recent acquisition of our DAYTON radio stations, our market research was absolutely clear -- Daytonians universally want an adult radio station that plays great music regardless of style and era all on one radio station," CEO DAN SAVADOVE stated. "Simply put, the new FLY 92.9 will play anything Daytonians considered good music."
The station is currently running jockless. Most of the staff was let go yesterday, with no word yet on the fate of WGTZ PD SCOTT SHARP, who was made interim PD of sister Rhythm sister WDHT earlier this week, following the departure of REGGIE BEAS.
