The official return of "XTRA SPORTS" to SAN DIEGO is set for MONDAY at 3p PT, as CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KLSD-A makes the previously reported flip with market mainstay LEE "HACKSAW" HAMILTON at the mic for the switch from liberal Talk.
XTRA was the market's primary sports station (on 690 AM, XETRA-A, now Spanish Talk W RADIO) for many years before a 2005 flip to Standards. Before that flip, the station's format and programming had moved in stages to LOS ANGELES, where they eventually morphed into what is now the Sports format at KLAC-A (AM 570)/LOS ANGELES.
As previously reported at ALL ACCESS, XTRA SPORTS 1360's lineup will include market veterans DAVE PALET and JEFF DOTSETH in mornings, former crosstown XEPRS-A-XHBCE (XX SPORTS RADIO) host JOSH ROSENBERG 10a-noon, former XX host CHRIS ELLO noon-3p, and HACKSAW 3-7p. Evenings and overnights will ultimately be filled with FOX SPORTS RADIO, but until FOX's deal with XX expires in DECEMBER, the station will air repeats of daytime shows.
