It seems that the toy recalls and the recession (creating slower-than-normal donations) has put the hurt on the Toys For Tots campaign. Unless they get some solid support over the next few weeks, it’s likely they'll fall short of their 2007 goal by several million toys. Toys-R-Us has stepped up to help; now JACOBS MEDIA has issued a clarion call for radio.
Run by the U.S. MARINES, Toys for Tots’ goal for 2007 is to help deliver hope and joy to more than 13 million children living in poverty in the U.S. JACOBS MEDIA contacted Toys for Tots and found out that each Marine branch sets up their own promotions and there isn't an exclusive relationship set-up with Radio. In other words, if another station in your market happened to be working with Toys for Tots, there shouldn't be a reason why your station couldn't do it as well --- only better.
