JOURNAL COMMUNICATIONS, INC. reported that for the 11th period ended November 25th, 2007, total revenues from continuing operations for its Publishing and Broadcast groups of $40 million decreased 13.4%, compared to $46.19 million reported for the same time in 2006. The drop is largely attributed to a $5.80 million decline in broadcast political and issue advertising revenue. 2007 Advertising revenues from continuing operations of $34.82 million decreased 14.3% compared to $40.65 million for 2006; both periods contained 28 days.
At the Broadcasting segment, total revenue at the Company’s radio and television stations of $18.38 million decreased 20.8% compared to $23.21 million. Radio group revenue of $6.92 million was down 9.6% compared to $7.65 million, due to a decline of $0.67 million in political and issue advertising revenue and weakness in local advertising, partially offset by an increase in national advertising.
