Longtime morning duo TIM AND WILLY are ending their 10-year run on CLEAR CHANNEL Country KNIX (102.5 FM)/PHOENIX due to a breakdown in contract extension negotiations.
PD SMOKEY RIVERS told AZCENTRAL.COM that "We made them a very generous offer. We were moving forward with them as if we were going to continue to our relationship."
TIM & WILLY told the paper that it came down to CC/PHOENIX offering a two-year deal and TIM & WILLY wanting three. ""After that, we kind of looked around," HATTRICK says. "All of the things didn't seem to be right for us at the company at this time, so we thought we're going to do something different. ... We're incredibly sad to leave the show. We love doing the show and we still think we've got gas in the tank."
The duo claimed that they don't have a new radio gig lined up yet, but their website is still live, and they'll continue doing personal appearances. "We're still in the TIM AND WILLY business," WILLY D. LOON was quoted as saying. "We're keeping the show together. We're not planning on going anywhere soon."
BEN CAMPBELL, once part of BEN AND BRIAN on CBS RADIO Country rival KMLE (107.9 FM)/PHOENIX, will take over the morning show starting JAN. 7th.
