Next TUESDAY, JANUARY 15th, noted music industry figures will return to their old college radio stomping grounds at UNVERSITY OF WISCONSIN's WSUM/MADISON for an eight-hour flashback broadcast. UW alum BRUCE RAVID (who would move to L.A., get a job at CAPITOL RECORDS and sign THE KNACK) will host the broadcast, along with MADISON radio veterans TOM TEUBER, RICK MURPHY and DAVE BENSON.
MURPHY, currently a talk show host on CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WIBA-A/MADISON, programmed RADIO FREE MADISON on the old WIBA-FM in the '70s, as did DAVE BENSON, who is now at CUMULUS AAA KFOG/SAN FRANCISCO. TEUBER was PD at WMMM (105.5 TRIPLE M) as well as the old WMAD in the late '80s.
Other guests scheduled to appear include KNACK lead singer DOUG FEIGER; STEVE SINTON, one of the founders of AIR AMERICA RADIO; KLOS/L.A. radio veteran UNCLE JOE BENSON, whose early FM days were spent at MILWAUKEE’s legendary WZMF and WQFM; former label exec and SMART MARKETING Pres. STEVE MEYER, author of the weekly newsletter Disc @ DAT, which appears in ALL ACCESS.COM; and DJ PAUL V of ENTRAVISION Alternative KDLD (INDIE 103.1)/LOS ANGELES.
RAVID currently runs an executive search firm in L.A. specializing in the IT industry, and has a monthly indie rock webcast, Go Deep, that can be heard at http://www.ravesraves.com.
