Kudos to the NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE PLAYER'S ASSOC (NHLPA) and GARTH BROOKS for raising over $1 million dollars to benefit the victims of HURRICANE KATRINA. The NHLPA held an on-line auction and sold autographed copies of game jersey's worn by some of the sport's hottest players including SIDNEY CROSBY, MARIO LEMIEUX, BRENDEN SHANAHAN and ALEXANDER OVECHKIN. The auction raised $530,472 which was then matched by BROOKS' TEAMMATES FOR KIDS FOUNDATION, reaching a grand total of $1,060,944.
