Talk about turning the "live and local" adage on its head: Now that EMMIS has flipped WQCD/NEW YORK from Jazz to Rock, CBS Smooth Jazz station KTWV (THE WAVE)/LOS ANGELES has decided to go "virtual and global" of sorts, by running spots on its sister CBS radio stations in the Big Apple, inviting New Yorkers to check out www.947thewave.com.
"We feel the appetite for Smooth Jazz is still very strong in GOTHAM CITY," KTWV VP/GM DAN WEINER told DAVID HINCKLEY of the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS.
Meanwhile, EMMIS is still broadcasting its pre-flipped Smooth Jazz format on its HD2 channel.
