ENTERCOM COMMUNICATIONS has launched the VOKI speaking avatar platform on selected radio station websites. The platform, developed by avatar technology company ODDCAST, allows users to express themselves by interacting with other users' avatars on everything from pop culture to politics and more.
"With VOKI, ENTERCOM stations will expand an already unique relationship with listeners by providing a forum keyed off of popular on-air features," said ENTERCOM SVP/Digital SANDY SMALLENS. "By enabling our most passionate listeners to create their own talking avatars and online personae and then interact with one another, we have expanded the dialogue and community that is at the core of each and every station."
Content on the VOKI platforms focuses on popular cultural and current event topics and is programmed by each radio station's editorial and programming staff. For example, Top 40 WFBC (B93.7)/GREENVILLE challenges listeners to sing their favorite song with "The Singing B!" application.
"User-generated content is at the heart of the online media growth. With VOKI avatars, broadcasters and publishers can now allow users to participate in the programming, and monetize on users' demand for self expression," said ODDCAST CEO ADI SIDEMAN. "With VOKI, radio listeners can now participate in the conversation and ensure that their voices are heard."
