As previewed last week, JOURNAL COMMUNICATIONS has closed on the purchase of FOX affiliate WFTX-TV/FORT MYERS and ABC affiliate KGUN-TV/TUCSON and "certain assets" and an LMA of CBS affiliate KMTV (TV)/OMAHA from EMMIS for $235 million.
The closing follows the closing last week of deals to sell TV properties to GRAY and LIN TV, and leaves EMMIS with WB affiliate WKCF-TV/CLERMONT-ORLANDO, FOX affiliate WVUE-TV/NEW ORLEANS, and CBS affiliate KGMB-TV/HONOLULU and its satellites. Four other primary stations- CBS affiliate KOIN-TV/PORTLAND, FOX affiliate KHON-TV/HONOLULU and satellites, NBC affiliate KSNT-TV/WICHITA and its satellites, and NBC affiliate KSNW-TV/TOPEKA- have been sold to SJL and the BLACKSTONE GROUP for $259 million, pending FCC approval.
