Everyone at ALL ACCESS is saddened to report that Top 40 legend JACK ARMSTRONG died SATURDAY (3/22) at his home in HIGH POINT, NC, at 63.
ALL ACCESS Publisher JOEL DENVER, a longtime friend of ARMSTRONG, commented, "JACK was one of the defining personality air talents for radio. If you ever heard him, you know that he brought up what was in his heart and soul and on his mind, and shared it with his audience every time he hit the air. JACK was responsible for jump-starting and shaping many careers in our business, and the memory of what he's contributed has made a lasting, positive impression on many. GOD bless you, JACK."
ARMSTRONG (real name JOHN LARSH) started his career in his native NORTH CAROLINA; he worked at WCOG-A/GREENSBORO, moving ahead to make stops at WAYS-A/CHARLOTTE, WIXY-A and WKYC-A/CLEVELAND, WMEX-A/BOSTON, CHUM-A/TORONTO, WPOP-A/HARTFORD, KTLK-A/DENVER, WKBW-A/BUFFALO, WJAS-A and WKTQ-A (13Q) and KDKA-A/PITTSBURGH, WHYI (Y-100)/MIAMI, WIFE-A/INDIANAPOLIS, WNBC-A/NEW YORK (one night as the "Unknown Deejay"), KTNQ-A, KHTZ, KKHR and KFI-A/LOS ANGELES, KFRC-A/SAN FRANCISCO, KBOS/FRESNO, WMQX/WINSTON SALEM and, finally, WWKB-A/BUFFALO, where he was part of the former Oldies format in 2002-2006.
