PEAK BROADCASTING Top 40/Mainstream KSAS (103.3 KISS FM)/BOISE PD/afternoons KEKE LUV (aka STEVE KICKLIGHTER) plans on broadcasting for 175 consecutive hours (seven days) without sleep to raise money and awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month in APRIL.
"In BOISE, 40% of the domestic violence calls to police involve children," PEAK/BOISE SVP KEVIN GODWIN said. "In 2006 there were over 1,600 counts of violence against children where the offender was a parent, guardian or caretaker. Assaults on kids ages one through nine is the second cause of death here in IDAHO. If we can use the significant power of 103.3 KISS FM to prevent one senseless act, this will all be worthwhile."
The marathon broadcast can be heard and viewed from anywhere worldwide online at www.1033kissfm.com, starting next WEDNESDAY morning (4/2) at 10a MT. KEKE will be playing records manually "live for 175" in order to comply with the rules of marathon broadcasting to break the world record. His medical condition will be monitored by professionals at all times in order to ensure a safe and successful campaign. A complete set of rules and donation information will be available online.
"Staying up for seven days is more mental than physical, KEKE said. "If you can realize what these abused children have gone through for weeks upon years ... seven days is a cake walk!"
